Abbot Celtic Football Club was established in 1998 to address the need for a top level soccer team in the South Shore. In our First season, we had registered two teams in two different leagues. The First team which plays on Sundays was competing in the second division of the Massachusetts State Soccer League, while the second team competed in the 3rd division for the lower level Bay State League.
After winning the 3rd division in the Bay State League, and coming a respectable fourth in the Mass state soccer league, it was decided to focus all our efforts on the higher standard MSSL.
Abbot Celtic have been the proud holders of the much coveted Irish Emigrant Cup, having won it in our first season 1998 and retaining it again in 1999. At the end of the 2000 season, the club was restructured with the hope that we could build on the achievements of the prior seasons. Our aim is to gain promotion to the MSSL First division by carrying home the trophy as winners of the second. This is a club that is going places, our core values are based on respect for each club member, and a common goal to be successful.
We are recognized within our division as a team that is going from strength to strength. Every player who would like to be a part of Abbot Celtic F.C. should be committed to working hard for his place through the excellent training sessions that are held weekly by our fitness coach. We want to build a club for the future, and this will only be achieved by having all members and players pulling in the same direction. If this is the sort of club you are interested in joining get in touch !!!!
Abbot Celtic F.C. have made a huge impression on the local soccer scene, and we are committed to local youth development and the future success of our Club.
